On Sunday, March 15 a Special Olympics Wisconsin basketball tournament will be held at UW-Stevens Point from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Volunteer positions are open for scorekeepers, timers, results, athlete escorts, and awards. Awards will start around 12:00 p.m. Volunteers can work the whole day or half a day with lunch included.
People who are interested should go to the following site to sign up:
The tournament at UW-Stevens Point is one of two qualifiers for the State Championship in Oshkosh. The second qualifier is held at Mukwonago High school.
The tournament has around 60 teams participating and will last about ten and a half hours, but volunteers do not need to stay the entire time and can leave early

I didn’t know we had a special Olympic basketball tournament at UWSP. I thought there could have been more information maybe last year’s tournament or like if there are age limits and minimums for the tournament.

I think it was a good idea that you put the link inside the article for people who may be interested and I like how you kept it short but had good detail.

I thought this article was good but could have been a little longer. I do know I lot about special Olympics because I’ve volunteered with them multiple times and I might volunteer this time because I really enjoyed it.

Its cool that an Olympic event is being held in our small town. I would think people would be lined up to sign up.

Sounds like they would have had a busy day! I too also liked that you linked that into your article to give us easy access. Did a good job getting right to the point.

You say that there are 60 teams participating but how many members are in a team? how may athletes take part in the event? Other than that great job. it summarizes what is needed for volunteers as well as time with contact info for anyone interested.

Although this piece was concise it still was very intriguing and well written. It was really convenient that you linked directly where to apply as a volunteer because it makes it that much easier for people to act an the interest your piece generates.
