American Legion baseball cancelled

On Saturday, May 9 the state of Wisconsin announced that American Legion Baseball is canceled for the summer of 2020.

I love baseball very much and Legion ball is the best. I was extremely mad when I heard the news because I knew this season was going to be the best one we’ve ever had.

Every year I look forward to this sport because I have always enjoyed playing it. It’s a great time to learn not only how to be a great player but learn how to be a great teammate and person.

I play on a Legion team called the Plover Black Sox and throughout our team history, we have had a lot of very successful teams and a few players who have gone on to have great careers after high school.

I have heard from my coach that the staff is trying to put together a team or two and play in a non-affiliated league if possible. This would make me so happy and help me get better just by being outside and playing.

I know that no matter what happens this summer it won’t be the same as a normal summer season, but that’s reality and we have to do what we can to embrace it.

Next year the state says American Legion Baseball will return to Wisconsin which is a really good sign because I would not want to miss out on two consecutive regular seasons.
