A jazzy night

Looking for a night of good music? Come to the Central Wisconsin Jazz Ensemble’s “Midwest Jazz” concert. The concert is on May 17 at 7:30 p.m. with a pre-show performance by the SPASH Jazz Band starting at 7:00 p.m.

Central Wisconsin Jazz Ensemble is a professional big-band comprised of the 16 best performers in the central Wisconsin area. “Midwest Jazz” will feature regional composers and arrangers at Michelsen Hall, in the Noel Fine Arts Center at UWSP. Tickets are available at the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra office, or at cwso.org/tickets.

The SPASH Jazz band was selected to perform as an opening act after their award-winning performance at Shawno Jazz Festival on March 9.

The featured artists at the concert are Marty Robinson, professor of trumpet and jazz at UWO, John Daniel, professor of trumpet at Lawrence University, Paul Dietrich, Adan Meckler, a trumpet player from the Youngblood Brass Band, Patty Darling, director of the Lawrence University Jazz Ensemble, John Harmon, and Chris Madsen on saxophone.
