Stevens Point Area Senior High ( SPASH) students, siblings, grandparents, and community members are invited to be a part of SPASH 2019 Run For Life Color Run.
The event will be held on Saturday, April 6 at SPASH. There is no age limitation and cost is $25 per participant, which includes t-shirt, color powder, wristband, snacks and water. Kids ages 4 and under enter for free, however, they will not receive a white t-shirt for the race.
People must register by March 6 to receive a white t-shirt. Registration forms are located on the SPASH home page and should be mailed to SPASH Color Run, 1201 North Point Drive, Stevens Point, WI 54481.
The color run is an un-timed event in which the participants are covered from head to toe with vibrant colors. Participants can either walk, run, or jog through the course as non-toxic powder is being thrown at them.
At the end of the race, each attendant is given a bag of color powder to throw into the air all at the same time, this tradition is called the Color Party.
The color run is an event bringing both awareness and funds for those who are battling cancer in our community. All proceeds will stay local and go directly to support patients at the Marshfield Clinic Cancer Center in Stevens Point.
Jared Kort is a senior at SPASH and a member of the color run organization team. His advice for those afraid or uncertain of joining the event is, “ We are all there to support each other-SPASH students, elementary students, and community members.” Kort added, “ I would remind participants it is necessary as a community to stay strong, and step outside of the comfort zone to achieve something worthwhile.”
Questions may be directed toward Kort at [email protected] or staff member Kelsey Haelfrisch at [email protected].

I would be afraid to get the color stuff in my eyes or the breath it in or something. Maybe I’m just making excuses because I don’t like running. It would be fun to watch sometime though. Great job writing the article and thanks for bringing attention to the cause.

This was a fantastic article. Each paragraph flowed well into the next. My knowledge of this event has now grown 10 fold.

I have never personally had the chance to participate in the color run but I have heard a lot about different ones over the years. I think it is very cool that they are doing this color run for people battling cancer. I will have to participate this year!

I liked how much information was presented in this article, but it wasn’t repetitive facts. There was good information about small traditions and other fun facts that it out.
