NATIONAL: Reuters staff recently covered a study done by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The study showed that in 2015, one in adult Americans used some form of tobacco; 87 percent of the tobacco users smoked cigarettes, cigars, or a pipe, the rest used e-cigarettes and chewing tobacco. The Food and Drug Administration announced they were going to take more action to reduce death and illness from cigarette use by regulating the nicotine in cigarettes to minimize addiction.
STATE: Veterans Day is this weekend and there are plenty of opportunities to show your support for those who have served or are serving our country. There are numerous ceremonies in Central Wisconsin you could attend in Marshfield, Stevens Point, Wausau, and Wisconsin Rapids.
LOCAL: The Portage County Gazette reported that the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will be performing the musical comedy “Spamalot” which was adapted from the 1975 film “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” Tickets will be sold for $24 for adults and seniors and $14 for 17 and younger.
SPASH: SPASH Parent-Teacher Conferences are on Nov. 13, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Nov. 16, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
