The SPASH Orchestra has their spring performance on May 12, 2026 at 7:30 pm going until 8:30 pm. The performance consisted of both the 1st and 2nd hour Orchestra classes, as well as Solo Ensemble recognition. Each class played 3 songs each, as well as a conjoined piece.
The second Orchestra starts the performance after the first chair violin is seated. Their first piece being parts of songs from the musical “Hamilton” combined together. Their last two pieces are played right after each other (Bella’s Lullaby and Tango Mysterioso). Then after their pieces the first Orchestra takes their seats and the conductor tells the audience about the combined Orchestra piece (Jourmungander (The Great Serpent)).
First Orchestra then begins their pieces, Serenade For Strings, Movement IV. They then transition into Liebestraum and Symphony No.25, Movement I. After their performance, the band is called up to set up their music and instruments.
A touching moment between the conductor and senior students at SPASH as he calls them up for a senior recognition. They tell the audience what middle school they attended and what their plans are for after graduation, as well as giving the conductor some words of appreciation. After the recognition, the students request the conductor wear a silver jacket for the final performance. The students bring out not only the jacket, but also a matching conductor’s wand.
Then the band begins the final piece of the performance, The Montagues and The Capulets from Romeo and Juliet.
Once the performance comes to an end, the students stand and bow for the audience, while the conductor thanks the audience for attending.
Even with the disruption of the fire alarm during the senior recognition, the show carried on with many interesting pieces and touching moments between the conductor and students. A successful and beautiful performance by Stevens Point Area Senior High’s band and orchestra. Truly a night to remember not only for students and parents, but the conductor and teacher as well.
