The Stevens Point Senior High school boy’s track and field team recently began their season. I stopped by on April 8th of 2026 at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP). The event provided an early look at the team’s progress and the upcoming months of competition. While the meet featured both girls and boys events, the primary focus was on the boys 60 meter dash, offering a clear look at their current performance levels.
Among the standout athletes at the meet was sprinter Andrew Saxer. In the highly competitive 60 meter dash, Saxer delivered an impressive performance, clocking in at 7.28 seconds. This time, achieved early in the season, demonstrates a strong foundation of speed and power, setting a positive tone for his individual prospect and the team’s overall sprint capabilities. Early season success often indicates dedicated training and a promising outlook for the rest of the season.
Bryce Bannach, another member of the team, offered insight into the athletes’ mindset as they come close to midseason. Bannach describes to me the team’s current progress with optimism, stating, “It’s been good so far, just trying to get up to speed.” He acknowledged that it’s early for everyone, noting that, “this is the goal for everyone because it is just the beginning.” He also mentioned that only SPASH was competing at this meet, but also expressed excitement for the outdoor meets ahead. I talked to a couple of guys again and everyone had the same answer this time; they are just focusing on building momentum and anticipation for larger and more challenging competitions.
It is a great start for the Stevens Point Senior High and we are looking forward to seeing how they will progress and make the best out of this season.
