FFA provides many opportunities

Stevens Point FFA is an extracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture

and leadership.

Anyone can join FFA from seventh grade until four years after graduating high school. To join

students just have to fill out a membership form, which is posted outside the Agriculture Department.

This year’s 2016-2017 Stevens Point FFA officer team consists of Ally Schulist, president; Brittney

Falkavage, vice president; Breanna Weiler, secretary; Dana Altmann, reporter; Stephanie Hirzy,

sentinel; Justin Wisinski, treasurer; Jaci Brandl, historian; and advisers Ione Hausler and Stephanie Beranek.

FFA is a very beneficial organization to join.

“We provide an opportunity for personal growth, premier leadership through career success,” Hausler said.

Stevens Point FFA is a great organization for career readiness.  Hausler said, “Through both our 26 career

development events and seven speaking contest we offer opportunities for students to be prepared for

both life skills and career readies for the. Broad based career opportunities.”

Casey Simonis joined FFA “to meet new friends, to see what the organization was about, and to produce my career better.”

Jerod Schulist joined because of “all the stuff that we do, good group of people, and is a lot of fun.

Every Thursday Stevens Point FFA hosts a work night where FFA members work

on upcoming events like parade floats, Food for America and working on any other jobs that need to be done.

Stevens Pont FFA members will be attending the World Dairy Expo this October to compete in

Career Development Events  and Dairy Showmanship.

FFA hosts a highway clean up every fall and spring. It is a fun event with friends that is beneficial

to the community and environment.

Bingo is put on by Stevens Point FFA at the Portage County Health center every third Tuesday of

each month.

In October the group takes a trip to the National FFA Convention. This year’s convention

is on Oct. 19 – 22 in Indianapolis. FFA members will meet with others from across the nation

and attend sessions.

Before Halloween, Stevens Point hosts a pumpkin carving event after school for all members which includes carving contests and fun Halloween games.
