Should We Have a Boy’s Volleyball Team at SPASH?
October 21, 2022
The main reason we don’t offer volleyball is that it is not an option for our school to have. Many schools offer Volleyball for boys but it’s more like other schools in other states. Wisconsin may be small but we should at least try to offer a Volleyball team for boys that are interested in it. Mr. Hauser, Point Athletic Director, said, “[Volleyball] isn’t offered because there’s no other school that has this type of sport for boys. Making the team happen will cost a lot and using the time to be in the gym will be a process. Especially because they have the girl’s Volleyball team there too.”
The benefit to have a volleyball team here is that students can experience playing and staying active. Making the students feel much better about themselves. Students in SPASH could definitely experience Volleyball, even if they’re not interested in it and still want to do it for fun. Every student counts! My friend, Adam Lee, a SPASH sophomore, said, “My opinion on this volleyball team is that we should definitely have it because it will help and better teenagers who want to play volleyball.” Mr. Hauser, Point Athletic Director, said, “If there are other schools that have this sport for boys then yes, it could be possible but as for now, it cannot. This opportunity is great! It’s just that, we need everyone’s approval to make this happen here at SPASH and if any other school is willing to do so and support then yes, I think this could work.”
The steps to make a team possible are gonna take a long process but the school could approve the work that it has been put into. Losing the advantage to do all this will slow things down in any type of way. Anything is possible as long as you put in the work. Mr. Hauser said, “We can start by either spreading the word or have other schools try and support this so that the other schools within or out of the district can also have a co-ed volleyball or men. Making this Volleyball team will be possible to have in SPASH. It will take some time to make this a thing for Boys Volleyball.” Adam Lee said, “Why I think there should be a men’s volleyball is because if there is a woman then there should be a men’s, If there were to be a men’s volleyball then it can actually motivate those who are interested in volleyball to play more. If we can’t have a men’s volleyball then at least have a Co-Ed because it’s not as competitive but still good enough where anyone can play.”
Requirements of making the team and if it’s possible. Requirements will be a slow process for students and teachers. It will take a huge effort just for acquiring the things that we need. Mr. Hauser said, “I’d say, to have great positivity and the same energy everyone gives. ” Adam stated that “The requirement for this is to always try your best no matter what, we want to see your full potential and you giving your all even if it’s a small or practice play. We want to see your potential and if it can grow. I personally want to see if others are interested and if they can adjust to it all. If you are injured or hurt in any way, just let us know.”
Trying to start the program at SPASH may take a while and start the process. The process of making an actual team for SPASH will take a whole month or longer. To make it appear in the school and elsewhere. The program will be a whole lot of work. Especially if we want to start it here at SPASH. Mr. Hauser stated that “Making this Volleyball team will be possible to have in SPASH. It will take some time to make this a thing for Boy’s Volleyball.” Adam said, “We can start by either spreading the word or have other schools try and support this so that the other schools within or out of the district can also have a co-ed volleyball or men’s.”

I agree with you that SPASH should have a boys’ volleyball team for all the boys who are interested in playing the sport. It’s a great chance for people to see that volleyball isnt just a womens sport. I also really like how you gave the idea of Co-Ed volleyball, so even if we can’t get an all boys team; we can have team for both boys and girls.

Yu Pheng I like that in this article you had many people interviewed and a lot of them were people that could make this happen. You did a good job of putting your information together and showing why are school does not have a volleyball team and how we could change that.
