Winter weather, holiday shopping and Christmas break are right around the corner along with our favorite holiday films. Some of these films are also profitable, making billions of dollars a year. For example, “Home Alone,” at number one, has a gross income of  $285,761, 243.

Some of the most popular Christmas movies in the United States include “Home Alone,” “How The Grinch Stole Christmas,” “The Polar Express,” and “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.”

Home Alone” and “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York” are among the most popular Google searches near Christmas time. The Home Alone franchise has made roughly $914,792,040 and growing. With a smaller budget of 70 Million, this is the most successful holiday movie franchise.

Where do SPASH students stand when it comes to favorite holiday films? Here’s where seniors fall.

Rachael Omernick: “The Year Without a Santa Claus because of the songs.”

Madelyn Pelot: “My favorite Christmas movie is Home Alone because It’s really funny.”

Noah Liebes: “Christmas Shoes because it’s really touching.”

Seth Filtz: “A Princess for Christmas because The aunt and kids get closer to their lost loved one by getting got know a part of their family they never knew they had.”

Rod Lawrence: “Elf because it’s funny but also heartwarming.”

Kala Buttke: “The original Grinch because I like the wholesome Christmas spirit.”

Julisa Benitez-Varga: “The Nightmare Before Christmas is my favorite Christmas movie because it’s the combination of Halloween and Christmas.”

Sophomores favorite Christmas movies include

Avery Drohner: “December Brides.

Ashely Schrank: “Elf, because its funny.”

Cole Weronke and Antonio Ramos both said “Home Alone” because it’s a classic.
