Beautiful skies and wonderful people are what you will find at Woyak Community Sports Complex.
This exciting huge place is located on Cedar Drive in Plover and opened in 1945.
The Woyak Community Sports Complex has a very welcoming environment. There are many different baseball and softball fields for many age levels to play. It has a shelter and two concession stands, each with bathrooms, playground equipment, and walking trails. There are multiple options here to either play baseball, softball, or flag football.
“We have a wide variety of wonderful people who visit this complex and many volunteers to help take care of it day in and day out. There are six multi-use diamonds here and we take care of each and every one of them all summer long,” board member Brent Thalacker said.
If someone is looking to get better at baseball or softball, or even just spend some quality time with their kids, Woyak Community Sports Complex is the best place in town to do so.
“Here at Woyak, we do everything we can to get more people to sign up for PWYA baseball or flag football. Some years we get so many kids we don’t know what to do with them and some years we aren’t sure we’ll have enough put on a program,” Thalacker said.
Woyak Community Sports Complex is open four months a year, opening in early May and closing near the end of July. It’s open Monday-Thursday, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. On weekends, it is open from either 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. or 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., depending on if there is a tournament.
“We see lots of teams and fans from different cities throughout Wisconsin and lots from other states here at Woyak,” Thalacker said.
The people who visit Woyak Community Sports Complex all love it but the main thing that sticks out are the concessions. There is a huge variation in beverages, food, and desserts and what is very unique about the concessions is that they serve alcohol.
If someone has a weekend tournament here at Woyak Community Sports Complex, they can save up to 70 percent on purchasing a room and a hotel close to the complex.
“At Woyak, all we ever want to do is make everyone who comes feel like they are in a homelike environment,” Thalacker said.

I absolutely love spending time at woyak! I go there to watch my little buddy play his baseball games! I only ever knew that this park existed so I loved being able to learn about it through reading this

I live very close to Woyak and it always has been a nice place to watch some baseball or softball in the summer. I like how you included talking about the concessions.

The tone you set was pretty friendly but not informal. It’s good you talked about the concessions because that’s the best part for someone who doesn’t play sports.

Very well written. I really appreciated how you showed the appeal of the park even for people outside of the community.

I used to play baseball here and I agree with everything Thalacker said. I like that you found someone actually involved in the operation of the field, instead of a kid who played there or something like that.

It is nice how the article covers the different times that activities take place (something that I should have included in my article). also when you said “many volunteers to help take care of it day in and day out.” I feel that day in and day out could be replaced with daily.

I thought this story was excellent because of the details about the concessions. I really love woyak park because everyone that visits is always so nice.

I used to play flag football at Woyak so this story is very relatable for me. I thought this was very well written. Good job Kenny.
