Prom 2018 will be held in the SPASH field house on Saturday, April 28 from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. with new rules regarding student admission and tickets.

In previous years, tickets were sold the week of the dance during lunch hours and at the door. However, recent problems have led this rule to change. Now, tickets can only be bought the week before the dance and no admission is allowed without a ticket the night of the dance.

“Rules were changed due to concern of security for the school,” Jared Kort, junior class president, said. “We just want to make sure that we have the safest school events possible.”

“I find this to be a problematic change to the rules,” Alex Cebula, a current senior, said. “Last year I decided last minute to come to the dance, so the only way I was able to come was to buy tickets at the door.”

Students will also need their valid school IDs to enter the dance. Students will not be allowed to enter the dance after 9:30 p.m. and are restricted from returning from the dance after leaving.

“Anyone that forgets to buy tickets aren’t going to be able to have access to adding something fun to their junior year,” Quinn Rowe, senior, said. “I personally had a lot of fun at my junior prom and it would be a bummer for anyone to miss out.”

All other school rules will apply at prom as well. Inappropriate dancing and removal of shirts and shoes will not be allowed. It will be mandatory for students to be dressed in formal wear or semi-formal wear with no jeans allowed. Students will be removed from the dance if property is disrespected or do not follow usual school policy.

The theme of the dance will be Cafe de Paris and a DJ will be there to provide entertainment for the students.
