On Monday, Oct. 30, Polito’s Pizza in downtown Stevens Point, hosted a “Pizza With a Purpose” event.

The event was held to help members of The Beloved Community Redeemer Lutheran Churches in the Stevens Point area travel to Houston, Texas, to attend the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Youth Gathering. Ten percent of every bill was be put towards the trip fund to offset the cost.

Seven youth members will attend the gathering with three adult chaperones. During the gathering, the youth will go around the city to help with a wide variety of projects.

Every three years, around 30,000 high school youth and adult leaders gather for a week of faith formation.

According to Redeemer Lutheran Church Facebook information, “Through their time there, young people grow in faith and are challenged and inspired to live their faith in their daily lives, through time spent in interactive learning, worship, Bible studies, service and fellowship.”
