Voting is one of the first things that comes to mind when you turn 18. In the upcoming election, a large population of our senior student body will be able to vote. This leads to many questions about how to register.

When talking to current seniors, many want to know how to register to vote.  The things you will need to register include a form of ID, proof of residency, and the registration application. The registration form is available online or at the city clerk’s office which is located by the police department in the city of Stevens Point.

“Is there a deadline to register for the upcoming election?” Colin Filtz a senior at SPASH  asked.

If mailing, you have to have it postmarked no later than the Oct. 20 (the third Wednesday before election day). People registering in person have until the closing of the City Clerk’s office the Friday before voting.

Many suggest that an adult should go with you because they can make sure you do everything needed. “My mom went with me and helped out a ton. She helped me with questions and helped me to finish the application with ease,” Derek Czaplinski said.

Voting started September 26, 2016.
