Diggin’ the Cause takes place Oct. 6

In 2011 two teammates on the varsity volleyball squad got hit hard with news that their mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. The team then started an annual pink game to educate the people about the severe effects of breast cancer.

The 6th annual Diggin’ the Cause event will take place on Oct. 6 in the SPASH field house. The team hopes to raise $10,000.

All the proceeds from the event will go to the Breast Cancer Center fund at Saint Michael’s Foundation. It is a local non-profit organization assisting local women fight the cancer.

There will be festivities like raffles, basket drawings and sales. The team is selling commemorative pink shirts for $10 each. Fans are able to purchase them at the game.

The SPASH volleyball team will take on D.C. Everest High School. Junior varsity games start at 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., varsity play begins at 7:15 p.m.
