The current situation of our planet it’s going downhill fast.

It seems like the amount of information and people yelling about the earth is dying might be overwhelming, and you might even be desensitized to it. You can either choose to see it as propaganda or just ignore it and live out the rest of your life on a planet that’s going to keep getting worse, or you can stand for what you stand on by trying to make a difference.

Patagonia is a company that is devoted to helping the environment and the people in it. They also make high-quality outdoor clothing. They have put countless hours into making sure their workers are making a good wage for their country of residence and find the best way to make their clothing environmentally friendly. Patagonia supports countless grassroots environmental activists and works in the hope of restoring the planet to a sustainable state.

On April 5, Patagonia took a big step they canceled sales of branded banker’s vests to financial service companies. Now Patagonia will only sell branded clothing to B Corporations (companies certified for environmental and social standards and performance) and other environmentally friendly companies.

“Patagonia pledges at least one percent of sales or 10 percent of pre-tax profits—whichever is more—to environmental groups.” Patagonia

To many big shots on Wall Street, the Patagonia bankers vest was a staple. This won’t have much direct effect on the environment but Patagonia is trying to send a statement to the rich bankers, through a fashion statement. If the big corporations get the hint from Patagonia, they might start listening to the pleas of the planet.

Many big corporations seem like their planning on leaving the planet to die. Some believe the planet only has around 50 years before the damage we’ve done is completely irreversible. A threat is calling and Patagonia is answering it.
